Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Gardener to join our team at Cambridge Landscape Co.  As a Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining and caring for the landscapes and gardens of our clients. Your expertise in plant care, landscaping techniques, and attention to detail will contribute to creating beautiful and thriving outdoor spaces.

Responsibilities:

Landscape Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning.
  • Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and other greenery based on design plans and client preferences.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as necessary, following safety guidelines.
  • Mulch and amend soil to promote healthy plant growth and prevent weed growth.
  • Monitor plant health, identify pest and disease issues, and take appropriate actions.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants.

Garden Design and Installation:

  • Assist in the design and installation of gardens and landscape features.
  • Prepare soil beds, install hardscaping elements, and lay sod or plant seeds.
  • Select and arrange plants based on aesthetic appeal, compatibility, and environmental requirements.
  • Install and maintain landscape lighting systems for enhanced visual appeal.

Seasonal and Specialized Tasks:

  • Conduct seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal, and winterizing gardens.
  • Install and maintain seasonal decorations, such as holiday lighting and displays.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of special events held in landscaped areas.

Equipment and Tool Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and hand tools.
  • Clean and sharpen tools regularly to ensure their proper functioning.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the supervisor.

Client Communication and Service:

  • Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Respond to client inquiries, provide recommendations, and address concerns.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and client preferences.
  • Provide guidance and advice to clients on plant care and maintenance.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Comply with local regulations and environmental standards for pesticide application and waste disposal.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.

Requirements

  •    High school diploma or equivalent.
  •    Proven experience (2+ years) as a Gardener or in a similar role.
  •    Strong knowledge of plant care, trees, and shrubs common to the region.
  •    Understanding of irrigation systems and their maintenance.
  •    Ability to operate landscaping equipment and tools effectively and safely.
  •    Basic knowledge of pest and disease identification and control.
  •    Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  •     Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  •    Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  •    Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  •    Driver’s license and good driving record required.

Compensation

$25.00 - $27.00 / Hour
