The core responsibility of this role is to maintain ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials on our clients’ properties. As a Pruning Specialist, you will work with a high degree of independence, managing your own specialized tasks seamlessly. Simultaneously, you will serve as the anchor on-site for a team of up to four fine gardeners—guaranteeing that the crew executes tasks with precision, on schedule and completes every property to our elite standards.

    Pruning Specialist Core Responsibilities:
    • Prune and shape ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials using specialized hand tools, proper plant identification and best practices.
    • Improve garden maintenance plans for existing clients and create garden maintenance plans for new properties moving from the landscape construction phase to the fine gardening program.
    • Execute high-end garden tasks including staking, edging, weeding, mulching, and applying organic fertilizers.
    • Direct and delegate tasks to fine gardeners on gardening visits and manage time efficiently to ensure every property looks its absolute best before the crew leaves.
    • Load, haul, and dispose yard debris.
    • Maintain professional and friendly communication with clients.

    • Assist with landscape construction tasks as needed, including planting and drip installation.

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of professional landscape pruning experience, and prior management of landscape crews
    • Arboriculture or horticulture certification and/or associates/bachelor’s degree with background in horticulture and landscape fields of study preferred.
    • Strong physical stamina, ability to lift heavy materials and able to work in all weather conditions.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Clean driving record, valid driver’s license and DOT medical card

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring and maintaining customer satisfaction for all aspects of services provided by ZEN Associates.
    • Daily coordination and communication with clients regarding work to be performed as well as updating clients on status of their site.
    • Respond to clients request for additional services, ability to produce cost proposals and schedules
    • Generating and maintaining schedules; day-to-day, three-week, and seasonal.

    • Must possess working knowledge of production planning and scheduling
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and all electronic communication methods (mobile devices, text, email ) and experience with or ability to learn standard scheduling software.
    • Education and/or Experience: Associates/bachelor’s degree with background in Horticulture and Landscape fields of study preferred.
